The Power of DND

The use of cellphones is inevitable. I spend hours a day working on my cell phone and it is essential to my success. You can also argue that cell phones are a wild distraction and time suck for not only the minutes of our day but our energy, emotions, and more.

Over the last year or so I have set some firm boundaries with my cell phone that have really helped me improve my quality of life but still keep me connected and efficient. I highly recommend these tactics and working to implement them one at a time into your life.

  • Do not look at your phone for the first 30-60 minutes after waking in the morning.

  • Set your phone on DND when working out to avoid distractions and getting the most out of your working - especially when working out at home virtually.

  • Put a “sleep” timer on your phone so it automatically turns to night mode at a set time each night. While I do sometimes need to use my phone after this setting occurs it blocks notifications that are more fluff (I will check if I know I am waiting to hear from someone such as a client, family member, etc)

  • Whatever you do, do not look at your phone in the middle of the night. Aside from waking you up, stirring your thoughts, there are countless studies of how bad it is for us to look at the bluelight in the middle of the night. Keeping your phone on DND with night mode will help you avoid doing this!

Sitting is literally the new smoking. It is so bad for you. But, it’s inevitable if you work, go to school, etc. I found this chair last spring and I can’t tell you how much I love this chair. It is ergonomic so you sit better, can easily change your position, gently rock so you’re always moving a little. It makes a huge difference in how your hips and back feel after a long period of sitting.

I love this set! It’s so cute and so comfortable. Even better, every purchase donates money to our National Parks around the country.

We love aromatherapy at our house. My son has fallen asleep to lavender every day of his life. I believe in the power of essential oils and it helps when your diffuser is beautiful too! Virtuvi is known for making great diffusers (we’ve tried a few different brands and this is by far the best in our opinion) and when they teamed up with Mejuri Jewelery, they’ve created something that is equally beautiful as it is useful. I love the gold color and it’s great because it’s cordless if you want to move it around with you while at home or work! Their Sleep Oil is our pick for night time and Boost for day time to get energized.

These are amazing! They are delicious, refined sugar free, gluten free, and perfect for a special occasion. I made the chocolate cake for my husband’s birthday and it was delicious. My son loved the pancakes and I can’t wait to try the scones. I highly recommend ordering this for your next special occasion. If you do make the cake, I used this refined sugar free chocolate frosting recipe (I used grass fed butter instead of margarine) and it was the perfect combo.

This book is ridiculous and a great read all at the same time. It’s also not a bad reminder that social media is equally a fun yet unrealistic place to hang out. If you need a light read to unwind at the end of the day, this would be it!

If you’re at all like me, I often hit a slump in the afternoon. I don’t generally drink more than one coffee a day so I try to reach for other options to help give me a boost. This meditation is a “Non Sleep Deep Rest” protocol that really helps your mind/body unwind, reset, and get you ready for the rest of the day. I feel a significant difference after going through this 10 minute series and can’t recommend it enough.
